Advanced test

Choose which server and method you would like to use in your test.

How the test works

  1. A pretest is performed in order to get a rough estimate of the user's bandwidth. Based on the pretest results, we set how much data is to be sent during the main tests.
  2. Based on an estimated geographic location of the user, the closest test server is selected to be used.
  3. 10 http-requests are sent to the chosen test server and an average latency time is calculated.
  4. Two image files are simultaneously fetched from the test server. The size of the image files is determined by the pretest result. The time it takes to download the two files is used to calulate the user's downlink, or the bandwidth in which the user can download data.
  5. Random data is sent via http-post to the test server (in two parallel sessions). The pre-test sets the amount of data to be sent. The time it takes to send the data is used to calculate the user's uplink, or the bandwidth in which the user can send data. The results of the test are presented to the user and also stored in the database. At the same time the result is associated with a cookie in order to make it possible for the user to review earlier results at any given time.

The test is no longer in focus and has therefore been cancelled.

In order for the test to work it needs to get enough system resources from the operating system. This could happen if the test webpage is not visible and in focus in your browser. That is why we have cancelled your test. Start a new test and wait for its completion before you continue using your computer.

Test results may be unreliable!

If you are using the Chrome browser on a Windows machine with a connection faster than 150 Mbit/s there is a risk that the test results are not reliable. This has to do with the built-in flashplayer of this browser. Read more here here. We recomend that you double check your result in another browser e.g. Internet Explorer or Firefox. Make sure you keep your operating system up to date. Doing this will probably also improve your test result.

The test could not be completed!
