The purpose of this Privacy Policy is to provide you with information on how the Swedish Internet Foundation ("we" or "Internetstiftelsen") processes your personal data in connection with the use of Bredbandskollen.

Internetstiftelsen is the controller responsible for processing your personal data. We respect your privacy and safeguard the personal data we process. All processing of personal data is conducted in accordance with applicable data protection legislation.

The Swedish version of this privacy policy shall prevail.

For what purposes do we process your personal data?

1. Providing the Bredbandskollen service

This includes performing measurements of your broadband speed, providing measurement results, and developing the service.

Categories of personal data

IP address, identification code, and positioning data.

Legal basis

To deliver the Bredbandskollen service, it is necessary for Internetstiftelsen to process these personal data. The lawful basis is thus the performance of the agreement with you. By initiating a measurement with Bredbandskollen, you accept the Terms of Use.

Retention period

The IP address is only used to deliver measurement results and is not stored after the measurement is completed. The identification code is stored for five (5) years to enable you to compare your previous measurements. Any positioning data is also stored for five (5) years to provide geographical comparisons of broadband speeds.

2. Monitoring broadband development in Sweden

This includes generating statistics to report broadband development in Sweden.

Legal basis

Internetstiftelsen has a legitimate interest in monitoring broadband accessibility development in Sweden. Statistics are derived from measurements conducted via Bredbandskollen. None of the personal data processed can be directly used to identify you as a user.

Retention period

Internetstiftelsen stores measurement results in Bredbandskollen's database for five (5) years to produce long-term reports on broadband development in Sweden.

3. Sale of measurement data to authorities

To assist municipalities, regions, and other authorities in monitoring digital infrastructure development in Sweden, Internetstiftelsen may sell measurement data to these entities. The entities receiving the data are only allowed to distribute it in aggregated form.

Both Internetstiftelsen and authorities have a legitimate interest in monitoring digital infrastructure development in Sweden. None of the personal data can directly identify you as a user.

Retention period

The receiving authority independently becomes the controller responsible for processing the data and ensuring that storage does not exceed what is necessary for the purpose.

4. Providing support/customer service

Categories of personal data

Name, email address, phone number, title, workplace, organization, and any additional data you choose to provide.

Legal basis

Your personal data is processed based on our legitimate interest in assisting you with any issues or questions related to the service.

Retention period

We process your personal data for two (2) years from the closure of your support case.

5. Sending informational messages

This includes sending informational communications about Bredbandskollen and customer surveys if you wish to participate.

Your personal data is processed based on your consent, given when agreeing to receive communications.

Retention period

Your email address is stored until you withdraw your consent and no longer wish to receive information about Bredbandskollen.

How do we collect personal data?

We collect personal data directly from you when using Bredbandskollen or participating in customer surveys.

Who do we share your personal data with?

Internetstiftelsen carefully considers how and with whom your personal data is shared. We have implemented appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your data from loss or unauthorized access. Access to your data is limited to those who require it for the above-mentioned purposes.

We may share your personal data with suppliers and partners engaged or collaborating with us to fulfill our obligations to you. Your data may be shared with:

  • The Rocket Science Group LLC, for managing communications through Mailchimp.
  • GleSyS AB, organization number 556547-9241, provider of measurement servers.
  • Individual municipalities, regions, or other authorities, should Internetstiftelsen sell measurement data to such entities.

Some suppliers and partners may operate outside the EU/EEA. If personal data is transferred to such entities, Internetstiftelsen ensures that the transfer is subject to appropriate safeguards in compliance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation. Such safeguards may include an adequate level of protection or standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission.

Personal data may also be disclosed as required by law or regulation, in connection with ongoing legal proceedings, or in response to a mandatory request by a public authority.

How long do we retain your personal data?

Retention periods for your personal data (see details above) are based on:

  • The purpose for collecting the personal data.
  • Our relationship with you as a data subject.
  • Legal obligations to process your data for a specific time period.

What are your rights?

You have several rights regarding the processing of your personal data:
